City Church is committed to missions, which is three-fold:  To fulfill the Great Commission, to see people saved and taught in the knowledge of God, and to minister to the totality of human need.

CITY CHURCH MISSIONS

Reaching All People, Everywhere—Across the Street and Across the World

At City Church, missions isn’t just a program—it’s part of our DNA. Since our earliest beginnings in 1927, when a missionary on furlough led a Bible study that grew into a church, we’ve known that God has called this community to reach the nations with the message of Jesus Christ. That calling still fuels us as a church.

We believe every person—everywhere—should have the opportunity to know Jesus. That’s why we invest our time, prayers, resources, and lives into missions. Whether we’re sending teams overseas or serving right here in Madison, we’re passionate about being a church that lives out the Great Commission.

LOCAL MINISTRIES

GLOBAL MISSIONS

We’re just as committed to what God is doing right here in our own city. That’s why we’ve launched a dedicated Local Ministries Team, led by Pastor Andrew Henderson, to deepen our focus on community outreach and connection.

With this new structure, we can:
  • Strengthen relationships with our local ministry partners
  • Offer more hands-on service opportunities for our church body
  • Create clearer pathways for involvement

Plans are underway to help our church family connect with our local ministries and spotlight the incredible work happening here in Madison.

While our local and global teams have separate leadership, they’re united by a shared mission. The funds raised through our Missions Conference support both global and local efforts, allowing us to invest in what God is doing—both near and far.

City Church supports a vibrant network of missionary families serving across the U.S., Central and South America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, India, and Asia. Each year, during our Fall Missions Conference, our congregation makes Faith Promises—personal commitments that help fund our global outreach.

A significant majority of what we raise—more than 75%—goes directly toward monthly support for our missionaries on the field. These funds help them stay focused on what matters most: reaching people with the gospel.

But our mission is more than financial support—it’s about lasting impact.

Our missionaries are involved in:
  • Training pastors and leaders through Bible schools
  • Planting churches in unreached communities
  • Rescuing and restoring women from sex trafficking
  • Supporting orphanages and children’s homes
  • Ministering to unwed mothers
  • Translating Scripture into new languages
  • Providing medical care and training nurses
  • Building homes, churches, and hospitals
  • And so much more

Our congregation is also actively involved in sending short-term teams, praying regularly, and showing up to hear and encourage our missionaries during the annual Missions Conference.

Led by Nancy Van Maren, our Global Missions Team ensures our partners are cared for, connected, and equipped to thrive in their ministry.
